🔥Seeing as though that it’s the weekend, I wanted to dive deep on a question I get asked a lot in regards to alcohol. The question typically goes along the lines of “Can I drink and still get results?” Which is a very sensible way of asking: “Cam I get f*cked up sideways each weekend and still make progress as long as the rest of my week is spot on?” - Short answer: YES
Long answer: IT’S COMPLICATED
Before we dive deep, you need to understand that alcohol is inherently anti progression. Besides a socially loosening effect, it has no real benefit for mental or physical progression. The occasional drink here and there will not see to be an issue as long as the other % of the time you’re pretty spot on.
The aim is to limit those negatives as much as humanely possible by using these steps:
✖️1st: Make sure to keep your water intake high - do this by sipping on or alternatively drinks throughout the night
✖️2nd: Opt for low sugar / calorie options like Vodka/Whisky and diet soda or sparkling water... or just shot it🔥
✖️3rd: Don’t go too HAM! I know it can be super tempting, but if you’re serious about getting results you’ll want to limit your drinks as much as possible. There’s no chance you’re getting in a good workout with a raging hangover, not too mention your food choices will be horrendous.
✖️4th: If you’re goal is to burn fat, you’ll want to take into account the extra calories from the alcohol, and deduct that from your current calories coming from your meals to ensure you don’t go into a deep calorie surplus.
Overall, I don’t recommend getting extra super duper drunk each weekend - however, everyone is different and you should aim to find a sweet spot that is in line with your goals. Looking at everything in moderation is a very solid philosophy to follow. The problem doesn't lie in having a SINGLE beer... it lies in having FIFTEEN beers, twice a week.
