Actually, squatting everyday is unrealistic & boring. .
‘Good things come to those who squat’ 🤔
Wrong. Squats aren’t essential if you don’t like them. .
‘Squat because no one raps about flat butts’ 😐
Well actually, squats are a quad dominant move so maybe we should start rapping about big quads if that’s the case?!
There are so many variations of squats but a big loaded barbel & ‘ass to grass’ is the scary image that pops into our heads.
Barbell squats have been my enemy for so long. I can do them but they haven’t been the most comfortable move for me & I prefer other variations. 🤷🏽♀️
If you struggle like me, or it just looks too scary for now(!), practise unweighted squats, goblet squats, box squats, front squats, sumo squats, narrow squats, cable squats....the list is endless! I’m only just getting back to the barbell after falling out with it about 6 months ago. .
If you still don’t get on with them....do something else! Variety is the spice of life! 👌🏽

Today I alternated between quad and hamstring dominant exercises to allow my muscles to recover in between 🆘
The barbell exercises below can be substituted for Dumbbells if you don’t feel confident enough yet 🏋🏼♀️ .
1️⃣BB squat 4x8
2️⃣BB RDL 4x10
3️⃣DB Bulgarian squat 4x8
4️⃣Leg curl 4x10
Didn’t 📹 but also did
5️⃣DB walking lunges 3x12
6️⃣DB single leg RDL 3x8

Have lost a bit of confidence with barbell squats recently and failed on 70kg, whereas before my pregnancy that weight was a comfortable one for me....so trying to think of ways to get used to the weight of the bar on my back.
So after doing barbell squats thought I would add deficit squats as haven’t done them in a while, and wanted to give my glutes and hams that extra work.
Here’s a vid of the 3rd and 4th set, and as you can see the wheels didn’t have much left 😅

Do you like how I look? I must be lucky or have great genetics right? I must know some secret that others don’t right? Maybe God just gave me the gift. Wrong, wrong, and wrong. It’s time for some real talk. No filter on the pic and none on the honesty either. To look and perform like this at 40 takes a lot of work. To do it naturally with no shortcuts takes even more work. It requires constant discipline and dedication. There are no days off in my world. It’s workouts twice a day every day. Sometimes three. It requires going to bed before 9 at night and waking up at the crack of dawn. It requires sitting every day in a savagely hot sauna and subjecting myself to ice cold shower until I want to scream. It means sitting in recovery boots, doing recovery walks, and stretching. It requires eating until I feel like I’m going to throw up and then taking a few more bites. There are times that I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck and times when I collapse at the end of the day. Achieving your true potential requires doing the work others can’t and won’t. I don’t live for the weekend, I don’t take vacations, and I don’t have an off switch. This is the cost when you want to be the best in the world. Dreams can come true but they come with sacrifice. Learn to love it, learn to live it, or just quit. That’s an easy solution right? The choice is yours. I’ve made mine... #everydamnday

I make it a point every morning to stand in front of my dream board and visualize myself in every situation I want to be in✨ I make sure to focus on how I’m going to feel in that moment, how excited I get when I’m visualizing myself in the future, literally everything about the situation i want to be in I will visualize myself there. I truly believe that whatever you put out into the universe you will get back! GOOOOOOD MORNING lovelies - had to share a close up of yesterday’s recipe (stolen from @ottolenghi ‘s new recipe book - Simple 📖) Scrambled Harissa Tofu with an avocado, lime and coriander salad (I adapted the suggested recipe a little because I don’t like cucumber!) Unfortunately today I was in the office from 9 so I had to settle with a quick fruit porridge 😒 but can’t wait to try a new stuffed courgette recipe this evening 🤤 hope you’re all avoiding the mid-week slump! 💕
I’ve struggled up and down with my weight for the last year because I lacked consistency 🥴. I would go to the gym and eat healthy for a week and then slack👎🏽. Over the last month I’ve been working my ass off to take care of myself physically and mentally, as I think a healthy lifestyle is the KEY to tap into your potential and will lead to more success in your life.💪🏽
My current routine:
↠ fasted cardio: I run intervals with an incline on the treadmill 4-5 times per week for about 20 minutes ↠ HIIT workouts: following my run I usually do a quick high intensity body workout using light weights and a jump rope ↠ diet: is the most important part. I’m plant based and eat 5-6 light meals throughout the day. Your body works really hard to digest food so you want to make sure you’re fueling it with the right things. I eat lots of fruit in the morning for breakfast, greens with avocado for lunch, veggie burger or rice with veggies for dinner, and snack on dates or nuts in between meals, and I feel amazing (this is what works for my body)
↠ yoga: I do yoga 2 times per week for flexibility and energy and it’s helped me so much
