I’m doing good but I’m ready for bed... respect the game 🏆
Full time work then gym weeks back to back, it’s important to give your body a rest. I been taking a couple days off from the gym and as much as I hate not being in the gym my body has been feeling a lot better with the relaxing time. And as usual, rocking @humblegainz even on rest days with the comfiest joggers 😌 a lot of new stuff coming out super soon, use my discount code “JCASTRO” to get 15% off 🤙🏽💕

This is probably the most embarrassing thing I've ever posted on here, but this is raw and real so I am trying not to care. I tried one of Meggan Grubb's HIIT workouts and didn't even make it through one round. Feeling like death with my hair whipping me in the face isn't exactly glamorus. I couldn't even fit the whole clip in this post (the part that didn't fit is when I reallllly died) but I just about perished when I tried doing high knees and my legs wouldn't even come off ground 😅 I guess I'm just posting this so y'all can see that not everyone looks like a sponsored athlete when they're working out. I'm over here huffing and puffing like an out-of-shape ol' fart. Instagram makes us have such high standards for ourselves!! Let's keep it R E A L guys. So here's my un-edited fail of a HIIT workout for your pleasure.
Catch the recent Live/IGTV if this question interests you:
Q: I started going to yoga and have grown to love it so far but I noticed that my muscles get shaky when we hold poses for a while. I'm talking really shaky. I don't feel dizzy or pain or anything but I feel like I can't keep my balance. I'm pretty fit otherwise and do other workouts but this is new. Any thoughts?
A: Yes. First off all, I absolutely love that you're taking care of your body (and mind) through yoga in addition to everything else that you're doing. It truly is a way to strengthen and center yourself in ways that other workouts may not be able to. Now, to your concern.
Let me tell you that shaking during those seemingly endless poses, especially where you're balancing on one foot, is normal. You're actually training your muscles in a completely different way than you would with constant motion or other forms of weight training. The key benefit here is: joint stability and strength, which is usually done while lengthening some muscles + contracting the opposing muscles groups and vice versa. Overtime, muscle memory will kick in and you'll be able to hold those poses longer and get deeper in your practice. You'll feel so proud when you notice these changes. Hang in there (literally). Keep going with this. As long as you're not experiencing sharp pain (muscle burning is good), you're fine. If you do feel pain, ease off a bit and make sure that you're alignment is okay. Take it slow. You're in this for the long haul and the benefits are cumulative. Your older self will thank you too since we loose joint stability and mobility as we age. Keep her in mind ;)

What I used to think about myself
“My face is too fat”
“I hate my curves”
“My fat percentage is too high”
“My arms are so flubby”
“I have no muscle mass”
“I hate my body”
What I think about myself now
“My fat percentage has lowered immensely. I’m proud of my work”
“I want to keep my curves”
“My arms are more defined”
“I have more muscle than fat now”
“I’m comfortable in my body”
“I still have more work to do, but I’m happy with my body”
While I’m still working towards reaching certain physical goals at the moment and am not quite there yet, I wanted to mention that before I took the initiative to begin an active lifestyle change at the end of 2017, I used to think all those negative things about myself that I listed above 😶
With a little over a year now of implementing an active lifestyle and seeing the results I’ve been working towards, the way my mindset has transformed is surprisingly the most important change that has come out of this 🧠
I’m here to encourage you all to make the conscious effort to stop being your biggest critics for no valid reasoning 🙅🏻♀️
No matter where you are in your fitness journey, beginning, middle, end, whatever... ending that kind of self-indicted criticism will grow your confidence levels immensely and make this journey much easier for you ❤️

Felt this needed to be shared on my feed- rather than just my story. Let me first say that when I share these photos, I am not necessarily comfortable with them and gaining post show weight is never easy for anyone... I won’t lecture on this again lol- I feel like I have too often in the past.
However, I do share them because I have been working hard to balance out my diet, quit the wine, and not be addicted to the stairmaster. Since the beginning of January I have been working extremely hard with my new coach at this, but I still see some water retention, etc with my body. I did not stay lean, but I will also not post throwbacks or flashbacks consistently and hide from reality. Not saying posting throwbacks are a problem! I do it too, but I will also always share my current state. As I posted previously- I do have body image issues- I am working on them, but they do not just simply go away. So this is my current shape, and while I may not be entirely okay with it, I want to share it with you guys for a couple reasons. First, because I have been working hard to get healthy, and whether I have leaned out or not I am proud of myself. Second, because we don’t all stay lean year round- in reality, it’s about health and not how shredded you can be. Third, because life! This is my life and I share with you guys! So current shape...working hard... will continue to work hard, and also be real with you guys! 💕
Don’t tell yourself you “can’t” because there’s no such thing. You either chose to do something or chose not to do something. One of the beautiful things about life is that we can literally choose to do whatever we want. Don’t waste yo life believing that there’s anything you can’t do ✨ 2015 - - -> 2019 #transformation

Someone made a comment to me once that really got to me; “I️ need you to stop being so @marissarenaefoy and be more @marissa.foy again.” Now, let me start by saying, this person meant NOTHING by that except to motivate me to kill my workout and remind me of my fire. And they did. But when I️ got home, I️ thought about what they said again.. And I️ realized, I️ am “@marissarenaefoy” before I️ am “@marissa.foy.” Fitness is my passion. It fuels my soul. BUT, it does not define me. I️ am so much more than a workout fiend, and I️ am totally okay with focusing my time and energy on things other than fitness! My fitness journey is not linear. I️ don’t want or need it to be. Some days you just need to take a few steps back.
Not all progress is physical. ❤️
My fitness journey has taught me A LOT. It had made me a better human. .
...or I’ve made me a better human through it?🧐
One of the many reasons I love it so much and have stuck with it for so long🥰. .
One of the biggest lessons that I carry with me every day is this⬇️⬇️
✨If you want something, you’ve gotta freakin put in the work.✨
Mind blowing. I know😂.
There are no shortcuts. There is no easy way out. There is no quick fix. No one can do the work for you.
There’s you and there’s your goal.
There’s doing the shiz you don’t always want to do. There’s probs some blood sweat and tears. There’s discomfort. Theres sacrifice. There’s doing what you gotta do day after day after day for a long ass time.
If your heart is IN a goal, you👏🏻will👏🏻work.
You’ll work as hard as you can for as long as you need to.
You’ll work when you aren’t seeing obvious progress
You’ll work when others are watching just as hard as you do when they aren’t.
You’ll work when you’re sure of yourself just as hard as when you are totally NOT sure if yourself at all. .
Work hard. Work smart. Know when to step back, when to reset and when to go full force ahead. Both are needed.
Nothing good comes easy and that, IMO, is a BOOTIFUL thing❤️.
