I used to force myself to workout no matter what. I was obsessed with doing the best workout to get the best results physically. At that time, I valued the appearance of my body a lot more than I do now, and a lot of joy was lost in pushing myself so hard when I didn't really feel like it. It was not worth it to me. Why was I even pushing myself so hard, really?? What belief did I have that made me do it anyway? Why did I feel bad if I didn't do it?
Now I work out when I feel like it, and I have so much fun. It really helps me build mental strength more than anything. I am very active every day because I love it, but not necessarily at the gym lifting weights. But when I do, I love it. I realized that I want to FEEL good much more than reach an aesthetic goal, and I really value filling my days with joy and what makes me feel happy. There is obviously nothing wrong at all with having a goal to build muscle or look a certain way - I admire that kind of discipline! For me however, it's been a game changer to view movement and working out differently, and realizing that I value the joy and creativity of movement more than the outcome of it, and changing my belief system. For me it also goes hand in hand with how I do many other things - enjoying the journey and process more than losing all the joy while going for a goal. Being active and outdoors, moving my body intuitively and not focusing on the end result has made me a lot happier. And the funny thing is, that my body hasn't really changed.. but my peace of mind and joy has.
What motivates you to be active or workout? Do you have goals or do you do it for the joy? And do you enjoy it? Are you hard on yourself for no reason? Is it okay to move in a different way sometimes or are you strict with what you do?
FAME !
No shame here. ☺️ In the Wagar house we talk about sex, sensuality, sexuality, masturbation, the real way babies are made, the power of the penis and the mystery of the vagina. All in the right time for each child, lead by my inner intuition...wisdom of my amazing counselor and a few books. If any of these words made you squirm at the thought of talking to your kid, let’s talk. As teachers and caregivers may we guide them on their way to one of the most AMAZING discovery, that is never ending. 💋

Just saying 😉 What is there to learn, gain and grow from that will move you forwards?
Well said @scottstabile -- I posted these words for the first time a couple years ago. It's become one of my most shared pieces of writing. The original piece, instead of saying "Your chosen family is waiting for you," said "Your tribe is waiting for you." When I wrote it, I wasn't aware that the word "tribe" in this context was offensive to many indigenous people.
Since writing those words, I've seen the issue around the word "tribe" come up on many social media accounts I follow. My initial response was an eye-roll. Does it really hurt another human being to read the words "find your tribe" on social media? Don't we have bigger issues to deal with than bride tribes? I found it all annoying. Then I quit being a baby and did some research.
A quick google search of "why is the word tribe offensive" brings up plenty of material to read. One of the first sentences I read, from a Native American, was this: "The use of the word tribe just shits on the struggles tribal nations have had just to be recognized." Another, from a Native Canadian: "Tribe seems to have a double standard attached. It’s primitive when it comes to tribal governance and bylaws and can be easily dismissed as primitive, yet can be used as a marketing strategy to make you feel like you belong when used by settlers." This makes sense to me. Colonizers used the word tribe to marginalize Native people as they were slaughtering them and stealing their land. To dehumanize them. It does make "yoga tribe" or "soul tribe" t-shirts seem a lot less cute to me.
It's so easy to disregard things without taking even a minute to educate ourselves about that thing we've decided to disregard. I've done and do it plenty. It's human nature to go to the eye-roll and annoyance, or to ignore the objections to our behavior as though we didn't even see them. When I actually took the time — and a few minutes is all it took to wake me up — to listen to the voices, read the words of those who are directly negatively affected by the use of the word "tribe," I got it. I don't need to use the word when it causes harm. It causes me zero harm to avoid it. It's not an affront to my freedom to pick a different word. ⬇CONT'D⤵️
I can’t fathom how people are able to settle. Settle for a job they hate because it pays the bills, an unhealthy relationship because they’re afraid of being alone, ect...
In life everyone is a millionaire.💰You either have a million dollars or a million excuses. Now I’m not saying having a million dollars will bring you love and happiness but typically the people who refuse to settle financially also refuse to settle physically (resulting in them taking care of their health, so by working out their now releasing endorphins becoming more happy.💪🏽😁) also from settling emotionally (resulting in them waiting to find the right person to love.💕)
These are the type of people we look at and think “they have it all” because they do! They have Health🏋🏽♀️, Wealth💰, Love❤️ , & Happiness😊...because they never settled for anything less than that.
