I'm happy to announce that I really made it to record the track, I've announced yesterday in/with the video.
No big studio time. I did it in my living room (just for this track). Funny instrumentation:
A big cardboard box was my bass drum plus clapping hands plus mouth hihat and sticks played on a book at the end of the track... and of course my resonator guitar (acoustic and distorted) plus my voice.
I may add a bass...not sure.
I love the result.
The song will be available just before Christmas, together with two old outtake songs as a Donation Download on bandcamp. Majority of donations go to Doctors without Borders.
A full length album with brand new tracks coming next year on CD.....still a lot of work to do.
Babyland - “Decade One” on Dependent Records (2002) •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• A sort of Best of from a band I really wish I’d paid more attention to. They were on. Ton of shows always and on my radar pretty early into my punk/underground show experiences but I simply didn’t have any friends who were remotely into them. Industrial Junk Punk, they definitely were unique for how connected to the local Southern California punk scene as they were. Beats and improvised instruments, noises and the such with vocals. A two piece monster than really is a treat for anyone willing to venture out a little. Long gone now, but many releases were left to digest. This one at the very least collects most of my favorites or better, enough of my favorites to make it a good entry to the band whom I found through another long forgotten band, Stanford Prison Experiment who covered their song “Worst Case Scenario” on their own great post hardcore/punk gem “the Gato Hunch” LP. Extra points for a Logan’s Run soundclip on the song of the same name #babyland#postpunk#punk#industrial#junkpunk#improvisedinstruments#losangeles#california#enterthecarousel#worstcasescenario#decadeone#thebackoflove#logansrun
