One of my favorite drink stagrammers is @servedbysoberon . Matthias has experienced considerable growth during the past year and in my view he is what you call a true mixologist. In addition, Matthias makes no distinction, whether you are large or relatively small on insta Matthias is always at your service and helps where necessary.
What do you do when such a friend calls for a joint event, then you do not hesitate and sign up. #secretsanté is how the event is called. Each participant is assigned a different participant and asked to make a tribute drink for this fellow (home) bartender.
Yes Al from @welcometoalsbar and alsbarblog you don’t know me and I didn’t know you, but today I am your #secretsanté . Al the man from down under, passionate about beer and whisky (especially Australian) but also a man that started his blog in 2016 with the motto ‘try new things and get away from the tasting notes, rules and regulations when it comes to cocktails’. Al’s feed is different from others and that makes it interesting.
To my opinion a tribute drink to Al should add something new and contain whisky, beer and preferably Australian products. Stretching the word beer a little I came to (ginger)beer, so I choose Australian Bundaberg (for Australian standards Bundaberg is not far from Al’s hometown Brisbane). However I could not get hold on AUS whisky overhere so I used Scotch highland single malt instead. Last but not least something new i/e Ediks Mild vinegar apple syrup (43% vinegar, 37% apple syrup (concentrated sugar beet juice, concentrated apple juice), white wine). A riff on the Fizzy Ginger Apple Whisky (by wildamor.com) with a little more dept through the Apple syrup vinegar.
60ml whisky, 60 ml @bundabergdrinks gingerbeer, 60ml Apple cider and 15ml @ediksmildvinegar Apple syrup mild vinegar.
Cheers to Al ! Happy Holidays!
This Dashfire Chai bitters is as good as the bottle is gorgeous and makes for a PERFECT holidays cocktails pick. More importantly, I would like to take a moment to underline the work of one of the most kind, creative and interesting fellow in our industry; mister Lee Egbert, founder of @dashfirebitters. I met countless entrepreneurs and few have that right balance of aesthetic, good at playing with flavours, business acumen and knowledge of the human mind. Lee, it’s an honour to be your Canadian partner. And for those who do not know yet this stellar brand, look em up on @alambika or your local cocktail wares dealers. ❤️🍹 (📷 @trufflesontherocks )

Many of our friends have come down with the flu over the past weeks, and we know how hard it is to survive that horrible feeling that the sickness just won’t end. While it usually takes 1-2 weeks to get past the symptoms, they sometimes can linger on with the winter weather many of us are experiencing. Of course, the doctors in our lives will tell us consumption of alcohol will only prolong the illness, and medically speaking, they’re probably right! Sometimes, though, a few good sips can relieve the worst of symptoms at the times most needed. We figured if anyone is going to go against the doctor’s standard orders, it might as well be with a cocktail composed of herbs and a touch of lemon. So we’d like to suggest our recommendation for those in need of relief: A Slice Of Herbs. We balance one of our favorite gins from a Denver-based distillery with herbal syrup from Portland, a bit of classic French herbal liqueur, and a few dashes of bitters inspired by 19th-century botanicals. If nothing else, A Slice Of Herbs will provide some much-needed worldly comfort. Tell us about your home remedy—who knows what the next boozy medicinal cocktail will be! #feelbetter
