So today I went to the store alone to pick up a few things, which isn't something I normally do. I knew I was going to need both hands free, so I used a cross body leash on Sarge instead of our normal short lead. I haven't done that much work with him on a hands free leash, but even with out lack of practice, he did amazing! I mean, he just blew me away with how amazing he was. He tasked beautifully and followed my hand motions exactly the way he is supposed to. He did so great, even with me carrying a basket (that's the first time I've carried a basket in a store while with him) and me going up and down various aisles. He only slipped up at the end when we were in line, because I had him facing behind me (not a block but more of just watching my back) and there was a lady behind us. Now, I didn't see her do anything, but I think that she was talking to him or doing something because Sargent is use to people being behind us in line and doesn't get distracted by then. However, he got distracted by this lady, so I think she was doing something. He got into a good block position at the register, then when we finished and I went to put the basket back, he got a little confused on where I was going because he is used to just leaving the store after the register I think. That one was my fault honestly. But other than that stuff, he did amazingly and I am so proud of my dog!! I can really see our work paying off and I'm so happy about it. I thank God for this dog everyday because he really helps me so much and I am so blessed to have him and all my other animals.
