Letssss talk about one of the most uncommon/less heard/less practiced activity (for non climbers of course) : Jummaring.
I'm saying so because whene'er I used this word in front of anybody... They were all googly eyed 👀
I learnt about it while going through YouTube videos about rock climbing and I actually did it during my BRCC course at GGIM. IT WAS FUN!
It's a form of rope climbing and not exactly rock climbing... Uses an equipment called as Jummar.
Jummar has teeth downwards, so when it's attached to the rope, it can only go up and will lock if you'll try to pull it down. Hence, you can only ASCEND during Jummaring.
Requires your leg strength more than arm strength.
If the ascend is almost 90° , then ladders are also used as one of the equipments.
Very important for rescuing operations just like rappelling is!
