I got nothing but love for all of you but please be as professional as possible and don’t demand free beats. Not just from me but any other producer. We all succeed together! Invest in yourself and your craft 🙏💪🤙🥃
This is the 14th album released by the Jacksons and the fourth released under the “Jacksons” name. The video was featured in “The Making of Thriller” documentary, and it was the soundtrack to @amazon’s 2018 holiday commercial.
Vibes. Oh, by the way, don't mind my dingy copy of this album. Its visible and audible wear is courtesy of its shelf life in my family's vinyl collection and their persistent liking for it. 'Lifeline' is nowhere near a rock-solid favorite of mine in Roy Ayers' exhaustive catalog (one of the faceless and undistinguished of Ayers' Polydor period), but it's one of his more commercially viable and recognizable titles, which says a lot. I had to revisit it particularly in memory of the late great Edwin Birdsong, an undervalued producer, songwriter, and musician in disco, classic soul and funk circles that collaborated with the likes of Ayers (along with several of his side acts - i.e. RAMP, Eighties Ladies), Stevie Wonder, and many others. He wasn't necessarily a household name, but his distinctive sound was a heavyweight in the hip-hop and modern soul pantheon, stretching from De La Soul to Daft Punk. In his own right, he released five studio albums during his lifetime, some of which I've passed by during several digging excursions and stupidily passed up. Nonetheless, his touch on others' work, such as the material he co-wrote, co-produced, and played on this album, is truly an indicator for how deep his love of heavy groove and feel was.

La banda de Sheffield lanzó, el 23 de enero de 2005, su primer disco ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’. En Reino Unido se generó mucha controversia debido a que lo acusaban de promover el consumo del cigarro, en su tapa muestra un amigo de la banda fumando. El disco fue el que se vendió más rápido en la historia de Reino Unido. Tiene temas como ‘Dancing Shoes’, ‘I Bet You Look Good on The Dance Floor’ y mi preferido ‘Fake Tales Of San Francisco’. ⚡️
It's another #vinylbattlewednesday (from @vinylwife) and it's a soundtrack showdown!
The soundtracks of Trainspotting and Singles both have an almost perfect mix-tape quality about them, which is why I think they remain so revered to this day.
They also both feature music that has been pivotal in shaping my tastes, with the grunge rock scene of Singles and the Britpop/electro artists and their influences on the Trainspotting album making up huge swathes of my record collection.
I think they're perfect, but which one is more perfect? 🤔
It is one thing to play loud, but when you're referred to as the loudest band in New York City, it is a whole different reputation to uphold when you are competing against legendary acts such as The Ramones, Sonic Youth, and of course, Swans.
A Place To Bury Strangers (commonly referred to as APTBS), formed in 2002 in Brooklyn, New York, and have since then developed a unique wall of sound blend of psychedelic rock, shoegaze, and space rock.
Since their first self-titled debut released in 2007, the band has a built quite a reputation of performing a rather chaotic and extremely loud show, touring alongside legendary acts such as The Jesus And Mary Chain and Nine Inch Nails.
An interesting side note about founding member and guitarist/vocalist Oliver Ackermann, is that he actually runs his own handmade guitar pedals company called Death By Audio, which builds custom effects for bands such as Lightning Bolt, Wilco, NIN, and U2.
This is their latest album, "Pinned", released in February 2018 by Dead Oceans, which I had the chance to pick up when I attended one of their show last year. They had been on my watch list for quite a while, but they were absolutely excellent and it was totally worth the wait.
What is your favourite place to bury strangers?
