I played too hard in the bubbles today at @puppy_playground_indy so now I’m refusing to stay awake so mum can get a good National Love Your Pet Day photo. 🐾 But I AM SOOOO LOVED! 💕😍💕🐕 Hope you all had just as much fun as I did today!
When we brought Sika into Benny's life we were mostly hoping she would learn from him because, being biased, he really is such a good boy. We knew there would be adjustments for his part but figured he'd eventually be ok.
Anyone who has met Benny knows he can be.... a bit of a weirdo; love him, but truly. Being that weirdo he doesn't really play with other dogs as he always seems a bit suspicious of them until he has known them for a good while, and even then can be a bit clueless with that 'play' thing. One of the things we didn't expect when we brought Sika home was just how much it would turn old man Benny into a 'puppy' with energy and excitement. Seeing him roughhouse and play tug with Sika was always so much fun. Don't get me wrong he could still be a grump with her but you could tell he loved her.
When Sika passed it affected Benny quite a bit. He didn't want to eat but could be encouraged too. He mostly just hid by the dining table and wasn't overly interactive. He would still get bright about walks but not much else.
We weren't sure if getting a puppy again would be good or bad for him but we felt it was the right thing to do. I'm so happy to see Benny playing with Chica and I actually think he's even more patient with her than he was with Sika. Seeing my old man show his puppy side again has brought me so much joy.
